It’s that time of year again in Denver, time to enjoy the National Western Stock Show!

The National Western Stock Show has been a fixture in Denver since 1906, attracting approximately 700,000 visitors annually.  If you’re a city person and think this event is not for you, I’d say you couldn’t be more wrong!  It’s a great bridge between urban and rural lifestyles, and the wonderful people putting on the stock show couldn’t be nicer or more welcoming.

It was a cold and dreary day for the Kick-Off Parade, but it somehow added to the atmosphere of rugged Cowboys and beautiful Cowgirls moving through the city, showing off what they work so hard at every day.  The parade featured a traditional cattle drive of longhorns, farm & ranch equipment, and beautiful Western pageantry.   The participants included marching bands, wagons, various livestock & farm animals, and other groups important to the Western way of life.

Don’t forget to check out the full schedule for the National Western Stock Show.  You’ll also see a link to purchase tickets if you’d like to go check it out for yourself.

I’ve included some of the great sights from the National Western Stock Show Kick-Off parade in the small gallery below.

Enjoy!
